About Lucy

Why do you do what you do?

I once was told I should try being a “tennis wife” for a while. The main problem about this is a) Im hopeless at tennis and b) I need a cause.

How did I get to doing what Im doing?

I worked for a small business as an office manager while I studied a BA in Administration at UC. Then I spent 5 years in the Public Service with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority in various jobs - administration, finance, corporate and public relations. While doing that I got a little bored and studied towards a Bachelor of Theology part time. In the middle of my studies I took maternity leave from the CASA job. By the time my daughter Rachael was 6 weeks old I became the Associate Pastor (part time) at North Belconnen Baptist Church - this started as a way to see if Pastoral Ministry was my calling as well as get me some practical experience towards my course. The role with NBBC grew, changed and saw me work with different people. In late 2003 after almost 4 years of working in a Pastors role a new challenge came up - Chaplaincy at University of Canberra.

In April 2006 I was appointed to the Coordinators role for multi faith support at UC, while I retain my Baptist Chaplaincy hat, I now liaise and work with all of the local faith representatives/groups on campus. In 2006 I also took on some one on one tutoring with Indigenous students. I love working with the people at the University - thats the multifaith team, students and staff. Its never predictable and always interesting.

My nickname from my family is the Domestic Goddess. I sort of like this, because I think Im a pretty good wife and mother. I love to cook for people and organise them.
